Hello,

I assume this is with the webmail client? I would strongly suspect a DNS issue here...

Can you telnet your.scalix.host 25 and check how quick you get a response?

when i try to telnet scalix server on port 25 it is taking more than three minutes to connect to scalix smtp relay.
we are using a mixed environment of webmail, MS outlook as well as IMAP client (outlook express)

I am assuming you are using Windows, so try running nslookup and then put in the name of your mail server. If the answer comes back quick, no problem with forward DNS. Then type in just your local IP address. If that comes back slow, you have a reverse DNS issue. That would be beyond the scope if this forum. But let me know what happens.

Cheers!

This is probably not about the hostname an IP address of the server itself, but rather of the client you use to connect.

The SMTP relay will reverse-resolve the IP address of the incoming connection for matching against the relaying configuration in /var/opt/scalix/sys/smtpd.cfg and logging purposes.

So, try to make sure that DNS-based reverse-resolution of the client's IP address works from the server.
