Public PDLs

Hi there, I'm trying out scalix server version 9.2.0. So far so good.

What I'm attempting to determine is whether scalix can allow your average (or privelaged) user to modify a distribution list through outlook or the webmail client.

What I think I need to know is how I get a distribution list in the Public Folder (I have a contacts folder in there).

Basically my clients are building a list of contacts and want to
a) have more than 1 person add or modify shared contact information
b) as these contacts are added have these new contacts added to a mailing list

What are your recommendations ?

Thanks,
Luke

I think I answered my own question. I don't know if this is the best way to do it, but I can simply make a distribution list in outlook and make sure it is stored in my public contacts folder.

I think the thing that was throwing me off was that the webmail interface doesn't have the functionality that outlook does when it comes to shared folders.

If there's a better answer, let me know.

What you noticed is quite true; you might be happy to hear though that the next Scalix releases will include enhancements in the SWA Web Client.

- It will be possible to create/modify Calendar- and Contact-Type public folders in SWA
- You will be able to add/modify distribution lists in such folders

Also, if the distribution list in question is supposed to be system-wide, it can be added to the SYSTEM directory and you will be able to assign a given user manager rights for the Scalix Admin Console to modify membership in those lists.

So... watch out for the news! :-)
