-Possible- new backup solution for scalix

Postby jason-meers » Fri Mar 31, 2006 6:47 am

Hi all,
like many of you I love scalix but hate the poor support from most backup products, especially the lack of a decent single user restore, and individual item restore.

I have recently been in conversation with BakBone, the owners of the "Netvault" range of backup products. After discussion about OpenMail and Scalix there may be some interest in developing Scalix support or plug-ins for Netvault (whcih is supported on various Windows/Linux/Unix platforms both as a client and as a server).

It may help push this along and make it happen if some of you can also show some interest in the prospect of a more polished solution for scalix. For those interested please send an email with a subject of "scalix" to:

patrick . adams @ bakbone . com

and copy me in as well at:

jason . meers @ mv-online . co . uk

I am an end user the same as you guys, I'm not trying to make anything out of this, I just want to make things run a bit smoother than the clunky solution I have now.

Thanks
Jason Meers

Hi Jason,

actually Patrick has already contacted us and I've responded to find out on what level we could be working together.

In the meantime, and not wanting to reduce the value this would provide, have you checked out SEP Sesam (www.sep.de)? They already have an integration into their backup solution and this is available today.

Cheers,
Florian.
