Hi,
I've created some Debian/Ubuntu packages for the Scalix Server, SAC and SWA based on the Community Edition.
They work perfectly, and I've tested them on a number of platforms, however I'd like to enquire as to what the Installation script actually does in terms of installing it.
Since debian packages are hellishly more advanced than rpms I would like to incorporate the actions of the installer into the pre-install script of the package.
So my first question is, what actions does the installer make? Pre-install, post-install etc... I would love to be able to roll-out Scalix on some of my clients platforms, and the best way of doing this is using debian packages, mostly due to the fact that it can be componentised.
Would scalix grant this to the community? Am I likely to run into legal issues? Is Scalix likely to want to offer packages for additional platforms? AM i barking up the wrong tree? Should I rm -rf the package tree i've created?
The packages I've created thus far are based entirely upon the RPMs, and since the installation distributes and uses compiled python libraries to facilitate the actual installation, I'm unable to tell exactly what is going on (well i could, but that would be un-ethical, immoral and illegal) easily.
I place myself at the mercy of the Scalix Lawyers!
