Restore Mailbox from LVM Snapshot on another server

Hello,

I just have an LVM snapshot and want to restore a mailbox from this using sxmboxexp. For this, I have a installed a new server with SLES 10 and now I'm looking for the easiest way to export this successfully. As I think, I don't need a working sendmail or dns etc. so I just would install Scalix 11.4.5 (as on the original server), mount the LVM snapshot to /var/opt/scalix and make the import. Is this to easy ?

Must i use the same hostname as the original server ? Must I install all depending pakets for sendmail, etc. as listed in Install Guide ? I don't need SAC oder something else to work. I just wanna export the mailbox in a dump and reimport it on the original server.

Please let me know what u are thinking about. Anyway I have to do it tomorrow so I will see ...

If you just need to sxmboxexp the data:
- install the *same* version of Scalix with a dummy messagestore, hostname/IP doesnt matter, shut down all Scalix services
- mount the snapshot, adjust /etc/opt/scalix/instance.cfg when necessary, avoid longer pathnames than usual because vista_db is not able to handle them
- check numerical ids of scalix:scalix
- start Scalix daemon (omrc -n), *never* start all services as you could produce duplicate messages and mess up licensing in a multi-server environment
- run sxmboxexp

Hi,

everything you need to know was posted from ls-al before. After installing Scalix on another server, mount your snapshot to /var/opt/scalix and follow the next steps as quoted.

If you just need to sxmboxexp the data:
