Attaching a Message to a Top-level Public Folder To attach a message to the top?]level Public Folder named Announcements, where one of the mailnodes on the system is OU1=ny/OU2=sales/OU3=mis, address the message to: USER +BB/ny,sales,mis(Announcements)

Above is a info I found in the how to section in the knowledge base. I think this is what I want but I can't seem to get it to work. can any one shed some light on this? We, are tring to move messages baised on subject Via server side rules to public folders. The outlook connect rules wizzard tells me that public folders cannot use move or copy with public folders, but I've tried the above address(in Outlook) and can't get it to work.. any insight would be appreciated..

Thank you

It looks like the only "client" that syntax works for is omsend. (See man omsend.) Here is an example:

Code: Select all

omsend -u "user name" -p password -s subject -t "USER +BB/bedrock(public folder name)" -a text.file

This can be useful for scripting purposes but it isn't really what you are asking for. So, to mail to a public folder you would enter:

Code: Select all

omaddent -e "G=USERS/S=+BB/OU1=mailnode/OU2=etc/DDV1=public folder
name/DDT1=BB/IA=public.folder.name@domain.ext"

Now you can address a message to the internet address and it will appear on the public folder. The entry will not show up in the system address book so user's will only be able to mail to it by entering the address or adding it to a personal contact list.

In the rules wizard of Outlook it is not possible to forward to anything/one other than what is in the system address book or personal contacts. The SWA rules wizard does allow you to send to an internet address not in the system address book or personal contacts.

Also, in the admin_resource_kit directory of your Scalix install medium there is a script called sxaa. There is an associated readme called sxaa.readme. This allows administrators to create rules for users. You can forward messages or redirect messages.

There is a bug in sxaa if you want to forward a message. If you don't use the --text option the message won't forward. We have a fix for that script so if you send a message to support at scalix dot com to my attention, I'll send it to you.

Regards,
Don
