accessing "Other Users" mailboxes

Postby p.engel » Wed Feb 15, 2006 2:06 pm

Hello,

we have Scalix 10.0.0.320 (Enterprise Edition) installed here and are trying to access all of the users' mailboxes from one account. This account is an Mailbox Admin account.

The problem is: It does not work :(

I configured my mailclient to use this mailbox admin account and I can see the "Other Users" folder and in it lie all the users's mailboxes, but I can't access them, I can not browse their mailboxes (subfolders).

I checked permissions, and have full rights to the "Other Users" folder, but none for the users' folders.

What do I have to do in order to have full access to their mailboxes? Is there more to configure than just makeing the managing account mailbox admin?

Thank you for your help

Philipp

Go to Tools > Scalix Properties
Click the "Advanced" tab.
Click "Add"
Enter the name of the user whose mailbox you want to load (or part thereof.)
Click OK.
Rinse and repeat as necessary.

Hey leigh,

I can't find the thing you mentioned. We are using the Linux version here. Can this what you were talking about be found in any of the web administration / access consoles?

Btw, we're trying to access the users' spam folders by a script that feeds those to SpamAssassin's sa-learn to improve its scanning performance...

Do you have to mark each user individually or is there some more general way to do this?

Hi Phillip,

We don't make this information available in a public forum such as this. Your colleague has a case open with us and he will have the information.

Regards,
Don

Err, No. I'm talking about Outlook.

In that case, have a look here:

I'm using a 'spam' and 'non-spam' public folder in conjunction with the details in this thread. Spam-assassin says it's learning OK, but I'm yet to see results.
Using a public folder means anybody can drag the mail there and a simple IMAP process can read it.
Just make sure your users are feeding it plenty of non-spam as well.

Leigh,

can you explain what you mean by

I configured my mailclient to use this mailbox admin account and I can see the "Other Users" folder and in it lie all the users's mailboxes, but I can't access them, I can not browse their mailboxes (subfolders).

mboxadmin access can be used to login to another users mailbox using a special login syntax from within outlook and/or imap clients. If you need this, please contact support and open a case for details. We do not provide a way for general delegate access for an admin - for pretty obvious data privacy reasons.

In addition, delegate access in IMAP and SWA is not yet available in Scalix 10; the next major release will provide IMAP/SWA delegate access.

cheers,

Sorry, that question should have gone to p.engel instead!
