Port 8080 only accessible from internal network

Postby bluemike » Mon Jan 30, 2006 2:22 pm

We use SWA and SAC everyday with no problems. Last weekend I wanted to logon to check my mail from home, and couldn't get through. Back at the office, the SWA was working.

In checking my syslog, I don't see port 8080 being blocked at all. But whenever I attempt to connect from an outside IP, I am unable. The most recent change was the installation of TM InterScan VirusWall. COuld that be interfering with port 8080?

I doubt the virus scanner would be interfering.

Without knowing your network connectivity, I can't speculate what the cause it. It's most likely going to be a firewall between you and your server.

Are you able to connect to any port on your server from outside of your network ?

Cheers

I figured it out. It turns out that my FTP server is set to allow PASV tranfers on any port. I think that's something I setup like 5 years ago. So it just finally got to port 8080; making the firewall interpret all traffic on 8080 as FTP and not HTTP.

Anyway, I have now limited the PASV settings to to only a few hundred unused ports.

The SWA immeadiately began workling again.

Thanks :-)
