creating distribution lists and public folder permissions

Postby btorch » Tue Apr 11, 2006 9:22 am

Is there a way to create a distribution list containing every scalix account? How about changing permissions of public folders so that only certain groups or people can add things to the folder?

/opt/scalix/examples/general/everyone is what you're looking for.

ommodacln from the command line, or you can set it in Outlook (Right-click, Properties, Permissions). Only works with users, not groups.

If you want to set up group permissions for a public folder, have a look at the file groupPermission.readme in the "admin resource kit" (part of your scalix distribution), it might help.

Note: I haven't tried this out - yet. So please let me know if it works for you or not!

In the next major release of Scalix, you will be able to set folder permissions for groups without using those helper scripts.

In addition, you will be able to assign public folder permissions through SWA.

:-) Hope this helps,

Group permissions for folders can be set using SWA and Outlook since Scalix 11.0.0, i.e. December 2006.

... I may want to add that one of the reasons for implementing this was a particular Swiss customer. :-)

Hey Florian
Great, I think I'm the Swiss customer :) .
I saw it possible to add groups with CLI and SWA.
Thats new for me
One reason more to change to SWA.
Thx,
Erich

Erich,

:-) I was well aware of who you are, hence the remark :-)

It should be possible using Outlook as well, but only when using a 11.x connector. That makes it unuseable for your OL98/NT4 systems, if any of those still exist. :-) [And no, we will not backport the functionality to the NT4 connector!]

I understand your focus on SWA going forward and I am monitoring progress on the support and services side to hep you getting there. We've also just started testing and deploying Scalix 11.4 internally, with substantial performance enhancements in SWA, so I assume you'll like this quite a bit when it hits the streets in Mid May.

Best,
Fllorian.
