Lost e-mails in INBOX

Postby mprisi » Fri Apr 11, 2008 10:29 am

One of my users seems to have "lost" most of his emails in his INBOX. Only those that are less than two days old are still there.

This is Scalix-11.3.0.77 on a Centos 5 machine, the user is using Apple Mail (imap) and is quite sure he did nothing since it appeared while he was away from his machine.

I tried all I could find on the forums :

omtidyu -B -M -u "Username"
omscan -A -a -f -x
imap cache clean
backup / user delete / restore
...

I got some emails reappearing in some subfolders but not in Inbox ...

omtidyu gave me this :

Code: Select all

Priming mailbox for MIME access for 'User Name'
  InTray: 0 messages
  OutTray: 0 messages
  Folder 'Search Area': 0 items
  Folder 'Calendar': 1 items
  Folder 'Contacts': 0 items
  Folder 'Drafts': 0 items
  Folder 'Notes': 0 items
  Folder 'Tasks': 0 items
  Folder 'Trash': 352 items
  Folder 'virtua': 74 items
  Folder 'safePro': 71 items
  Folder 'safePer': 222 items
  Folder 'receipe': 34 items
Folder 'Apple Mail To Do': 0 items
  Folder 'Junk (Scalix)': 78 items
  Folder 'Queue': 0 items
  Folder 'Sent': 0 items
  Folder 'Recup Marcel': 0 items
  Folder 'Projects': 11814 items
  Tracking Area: 14009 messages
  List Area: 0 messages
  Waste Basket: 18 items
There are no active (non-deleted) records in the specified list
  Scalix Recovered Items: 0 items

The math tells me 12646 messages in the folders, but what is this "Tracking Area" with its 14009 messages ??

Any other idea ?? Getting an old backup and doing as if nothing happened is no solution to me ...

Tracking Area = Pending Tray = Sent Items
This is due to some historical reasons.
You used the "-M" switch which is doing the "MIME pre-generation". If you are looking for mails I would recommend

Code: Select all

omtidyu -B -U "some user" -Tiopfwr -S

In addition, the "-R" option enables the full report mode and show Subject and Sender of all items.
