Most stable version of Scalix?

Postby knobby » Tue Apr 08, 2008 2:47 pm

I am using scalix-11.3.0-GA and not having any luck. Constant imap password pop ups, users having login problems, and SMTP and IMAP are too slow to use with just two users on the system. It's a new install of scalix and redhat. Is anyone else suing this version successfully? I see a lot of posts in the forums about problems and no responses. Are people using this software? Is there an earlier version that is considered more stable?

Hi

That is a shame. A Slackware on VMware install is it on Scalix 9.2?

If not then diagnoses of isse would be easier if we had more info?

Version 11.3 is rock solid is my experience. I'm using it on a CentOS 5 server with 150 Outlook users and 30 imap users. Looks like there's something wrong with your installation..

Hmm, I really hope it is a problem with the install, a problem that can be fixed. We are very excited about all the features, but it sure doesn't seem to work. I used the wizard to install the thing, tried it a second time but same issues. We are quickly running out of time on this and the boss keeps reminding me how much my time costs compared to the cost of M$ Exchange. Any scalix consultants out there?

11.3 is stable for me as well, more so than any earlier 11.x release. It's even better than 10.0.5, which was rock solid.

You say you're using RH. Make sure you're installing the latest (RHEL 5.1). Do a clean install of the server, with no other software installed to ensure there's no confilcts there. Do a standard server install, then check in the wizard which dependencies are missing and install those.

Make sure your server has a fairly new-ish CPU (not neccesarily the latest on the market), and at least 1GB of RAM (more preferred).

Slow SWA usually points to the platform API set up incorrectly, or your IMAP cache corrupting. Of course, HDD speed will play a major role, but for a few users even a PATA HDD will be sufficient.
