SWA Crashing

Postby JonathanC » Wed Mar 26, 2008 7:29 am

Hello Everyone,

I'm in a real bind....my SWA will not stay running. When I restart scalix, it will run for a little while but then become unaccessable. I suspect the problem is related to java. I checked my logs and in the tomcat log, I have found the problem. Here is what I see:

java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
Mar 26, 2008 6:52:08 AM org.apache.tomcat.util.threads.ThreadPool$ControlRunnable run
SEVERE: Caught exception (java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space) executing org.apache.jk.common.ChannelSocket$SocketConnection@1843ca4, terminating thread

I have read some posts about increasing the heap size. Not being a java expert, I was unsure of the commands, and unsure if this would solve my problem. Any help that anyone could offer would be MOST appreciated as I have about 200 users who can not access SWA at this point. Thanks in advance.

That could definitely cause issues. I wouldn't run Scalix Tomcat with memory sizes smaller than 256 MB, preferring 512 MB or even 1GB for tomcat. The extra memory helps a lot, especially if you have many users accessing it.
