How to denie Mail-Arrival for non-scalix-user (newbie)

Postby frankobald » Wed Jan 11, 2006 5:32 am

Hi Board,

i am in big truble with our scalix enterprise-edition done by our systempartner. They told me: Scalix will reject incoming messages for unknown users... so they configured, that all messages which are not handeld by scalix will be relayed to a second mailserver via smtp.

Iam not very happy with this sollution. It would be better if Scalix would reject all messages which can not by handled by it. Where can i configure this?

Hi,

I am assuming you are being swamped by a dictionary attack or some other form of spam problem.

Can you please let us know what the version number of Scalix is that you are using.

On a command line, type in

rpm -qa | grep -i scalix

If messages are going to a second server, then there must be a relay host entry in sendmail.cf. Please post it here as well. Changing that may have unintented consequences. If you are sure about what you are doing, remove the relay entry from sendmail.cf.

Cheers,

Sascha.

Hi Sascha,

thanks for for your quick answer. Here is the version-number:
scalix-sac-9.4.2.5-1
scalix-swa-9.4.0.52-1
scalix-res-9.4.2.5-1
scalix-server-9.4.2.4-1.sles9

Here is the extract of out sendmail.cf
# my LDAP cluster
# need to set this before any LDAP lookups are done (including classes)
#D{sendmailMTACluster}$m

Cwlocalhost
# file containing names of hosts for which we receive email
Fw-o /etc/mail/local-host-names %[^\#]

# my official domain name
# ... define this only if sendmail cannot automatically determine your domain
#Dj$w.Foo.COM

CP.

# "Smart" relay host (may be null)
DS

# operators that cannot be in local usernames (i.e., network indicators)
CO @ % !

I hope this will help.
My aim is, to reject all messages which are not handeld by scalix an give a standard smtp-notification to the sender....

cheers

Frank
