SpamAssassin & Spamass-Milter Config Question

Postby STXRich » Wed Jan 04, 2006 11:37 am

I've just recently installed & setup spam-assassin.

When I sent the GTUBE test message. Spam assassin just flat out rejected the message.
Watching further, one of the user's receieved some spam mail. Upon checking the message headers in Scalix it IS marked as spam. However the subject line was not changed as I had instructed via the local.cf in /etc/mail/spamassassin.

When I was going through the install questions, the step that says to add the line to sendmail.cf to point to spamass.sock. The spamass.sock file didn't exist. However, in /var/run/spamass-milter there was a spamass-milter.sock. I pointed it to that file, and things appear to work.

My question(s) are:

1.) Does the configurition for spamassassin need to be somewhere different because I'm using the spamass-milter.sock file?

2.) Where would I find the spamass.sock file? Currently spamassassin-3.0.3-4.fc4 is installed.

Thanks

There seems to be a difference between spamass-milter and spamassassin under FC4. See the post at http://www.scalix.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=805 for what you need to change.

There's also another change that we needed to make in order for SpamAssassin & Spamass-milter to be happy.

Apparently the default startup script has an extra flag that just confuses SpamAssassin.

in /etc/rc.d/init.d/spamass-milter

under the Extra Flags section
it will have

Code: Select all

-m -r 15

Remove the -m, and restart spamassassin & spamass-milter.
