Server hacked. How to recover data?

Postby thevulture » Mon Nov 05, 2007 6:48 am

HI.

My server got hacked and I would like to use a back up of my data.

This is not a back up done using the scalix back up command. But a straight copy of my old /var/opt/scalix folder

What is the best way of achinvg this?

Cheers

You've got /var/opt/scalix intact, then? That's a good start. I assume you are doing a clean install. If not, the rest may not be correct.

1) Install Scalix normally, make sure it works with the sxadmin user
2) do a service scalix stop, a service scalix-tomcat stop, a service scalix-postgres stop
3) Make a backup of the newly installed /var/opt/scalix
4) Copy your old /var/opt/scalix over the current directory
5) Make SURE permissions are correct (most things should be owned by user and group scalix)
6) Reboot your server and see if Scalix comes up properly
