cant send emails to recipients outside my domain

Postby majdi » Sat Oct 27, 2007 9:30 am

Hi,

After testing my new intall of the Scalix server I can successfully do the following;

1- send and receive emails to any users locally using an email client software configured to POP3 connecting to our Scalix server on the LAN.

2- send and receive emails to any users locally and sending to emails outside our domain using SWA.

The Problem:

I am unable to send emails from the client software to anyone outside our domain, for example; user@ourdomain.com to example@gmail.com.

I think this is to do with a setting in smtpd.cfg. I searched for this file on my system and I found more than one copy of it in the following locations;

linux-sbm7:/ # find . -name smtpd.cfg -print
./opt/scalix/template/release.sys/smtpd.cfg
./var/opt/scalix/l7/s/sys/smtpd.cfg
./var/opt/scalix/l7/s/release.sys/smtpd.cfg

Can someone help me with this, I've printed out the file ./var/opt/scalix/l7/s/sys/smtpd.cfg

linux-sbm7:/var/opt/scalix/l7/s/sys # cat smtpd.cfg

Thanks jaime.pinto for your reply.

Can't seem to find a fix from your link, I couldn't find the file /var/logs/maillog.

This is the error message I get in outlook express when trying to send to example@gmail.com.

The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected email address was 'example@gmail.com'. Server Response: '550 Denied due to spam list'

I checked my DNS settings;
linux-sbm7:/ # cat etc/resolv.conf
domain afimail
nameserver 212.71.32.19
nameserver 212.71.32.20
linux-sbm7:/ #

If my default domain in Scalix was (example.com) should this match my System's domain shown above?

OK, /var/log/maillog (I just corrected the original post)

Easy fix,

Without changing any other settings, I just enabled “server requires authenticationâ€

The /var/log/maillog would've showed you that immediately.
