Lost Emails (sending local)

Postby swagner » Thu Aug 30, 2007 6:01 am

Hello,

sometimes we lost emails sending local from one to another user.
We are using Scalix 11.1.0.45 installed on Suse 10.1.

The emails is sending from outlook (and after sending it, I see the mail in "senditems"). But we lost the mail on his way to the reciptient. Checking the log:

/var/log/mail there is no entry for this mail

I found it in the audit log 1 time:

routing
time 1188460386 Thu Aug 30 09:53:06 2007 +120
type 0 message
priority 0 normal
sensitivity 0 normal
importance 0 normal
created-locally 1
hop-count 1
ua-message-id L2495DDB0B4094c00868573E0B379B0BB.1188460311."OURMAILSERVER"
mta-message-id L2495DDB0B4094c00868573E0B379B0BB.1188460311."OURMAILSERVER"
ack-req 0 none
ack-req 0 none
message-size 18292
delivered-count 2

The user is sending the mail a second and third time again and it works but the first one never recieved.

- What means the: delivered-count 2 ?
- Why sometimes the local mails in /var/log/mail and sometimes in the audit-log?
- How can I prevent happen this again?

Regards,
Sven

Sven,

increase the logging levels:
omconfaud router 9 local 9

You should then be able to see more info.

The local delivery record for the message should also show that it is actually being delivered to the recipient, if the recipient is on the local machine.

"delivered 2" liley means it was routed to two recipient addresses.

Some will be in /var/mail/log if they are going external from that server. in teh audit log, for all messages that hit that instance of scalix.

ok now i updated the logging level.
I check the logging again and it seems like mails which sending via outlook and scalixconnector are in audit and all other (internal and external) are in maillog.
Is this correct?

Do you have any ideas how this could happend that the email is lost one time? (A few minutes before the mail was sended, we changed the time on the scalix server). Could this be a reason?

Regards,
Sven
