User unknown in virtual alias table!

I created a public folder and link to an internet address. I can send to that public folder internally, by typing the full FQDN email address xxxxx@yyyyy.com. But when I test from external, the email has been returned (I can see the fetchmail has downloaded from ISP pop3 and flushed) with the error:

In order for a public folder to accept email, you'll need to add an email address for it to the addressbook.
