Corrupt Message Queue

Postby graemef » Tue Oct 04, 2005 9:16 pm

Is there any way of finding out why Scalix has marked certain messages as corrupt and placed them in this queue. I have a lot of messages, from one user only, that have attached PDF's that go into this queue. Unfortunately these are the company invoices going and and there is no return notification from Scalix that the email was not sent.
So also, is there any way of getting notification of non-delivery of emails ?

I'd love to see some sort of notification mechanism to allow sxadmin there is something in the error queue(s). As well as in the FATAL logs.

The ommaint script in the admin_resource_kit/ directory is designed specifically for those tasks.

Please take some time to read through the comments about how to implement it.

Cheers

Does ommon automatically check all queues, including the error queue?

I have OMMAINT running to show when things are in the queue. What I would like to know is why they wind up in the queue. Is there any way of showing what is wrong with the email that got it put in the queue ?
I also have nagios set up to say where there is one email in the error queue, as this is happening a couple of times to day it is getting real annoying.

Another Corrupt Message Queue Queuestion

Postby MDoering » Fri Dec 02, 2005 3:38 am

Hey guys, I too am having an issue with the corrupt message queue,
I don't understand why certain messages are getting marked as corrupt, such as the one from my first attempt to register here for support...
the confirmation email is stuck in the corrupt message queue...

My main concerns here are:
A.) Why are the messages getting flagged, and
B.) How do I get theese messages out of hawk and get them delivered to the respective users or is that even possible? Let me know ASAP

Thank You all for your generous support!

P.S. I've tried doing a search on both the forums and the knowledge base for an answer on the afforementioned items. If I missed the answer,
I appologize and ask that you simply point me in the direction of the available info. Thank you again.

Assume when referring to the "Corrupt Message Queue" you actually talk about the ERROR queue, correct?

If that's the case whenever the Router places a message on this queue, a message should be logged into the /var/opt/scalix/logs/fatal file or in the rotating system log that can be looked at through the omshowlog command or the SAC UI. Please see if you can find some error message there.

If you then need more help, please post the error message to this forum.

A common reason is a misconfigured Virus scanning engine integrated into the service router; in that case, the Router parks the non-scanned message on the error queue as otherwise the danger of unscanned messages passing through would exist. if this is your probablem, you need to fix your virus scanner setup, restart the router and then resubmit the messages from the error queue using omresub.

cheers,
Florian.

Problem Solved

Postby MDoering » Fri Dec 02, 2005 3:09 pm

Florian-
Thank you for your response. I had tried to setup clamav a while back but had then un-installed it without removing the allroutes.vir and omvscan.map files from the rules dir. The problem of clearing the messages from the error queue(listed as "Corrupt Message Queue" in SAC) was solved by simply issuing "omresub -q error" Thank you again for your help! -Mark
