Reply to senders of mail sent to invalid recipients

Postby preetsei » Fri Jul 13, 2007 11:39 am

Hello,

I currently have email messages that are sent to invalid recipients in my domain going to a mailbox called "unknown@<domain.com>"

I would like to respond to the senders of these emails with a message similar to:

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.
Delivery to the following recipients failed:
<%name of original recipient%>"

I've setup a "Reply using a specific message" rule. This works fine for the static text, but does anyone know how to include the original recipient in the reply message?

Thanks,

Pete

I usually do this by writing a couple of scripting lines in the .procmailrc file of the related user, but that presupposes the "existence" of that user as a normal unix account. I really don't believe scalix can handle this internally.
