External Email Problem

I have a problem with sending to an external email address. IT seems the email never gets anywhere. I looked in the internet mail gateway and all the messages are sitting in there. Is there a way to fix this?

What is the output of :

omstat -s

If the "Internet Mail Gateway" is in the "Started" state, does the "omshowlog" command show any errors that might be related?

Do your sendmail logs report any errors? (typically /var/log/maillog on Redhat systems)

I have looked at the command and it says it was Started, then has the date and then a number "9" next to it.

I looked into the log as well and it shows nothing. I have no problem sending email internally.

Scalix *does not* send emals. sendmail does, so forget about scalix
from one shell do "tail -f /var/log/maillog"
from another shell try sending a test email with "Mail externaluser@externaldomain.com"
Post the last 10 lines of /var/log/maillog
