Adding users to a public distribution list from a second dir

Postby dwerthmu » Thu Jun 21, 2007 5:40 pm

I've seen this used to add names to a public distribution list

omaddpdln -l Investors -n ddv1=richie.rich@richindustries.com/ou1=internet -x

where the names are not in the system directory.

Since scalix has the capacity to add additonal directories I've added a Org-contacts directory with the names of the address of people we frequently contact via email.

Now we would like to add them to the a public distribution list. How do we specify what directory the user is stored. The public distribution list is in the system directory.

I guess the public distribution list will have members from both the SYSTEM directory and the Org-contacts directory.

Hi,

Any PDL member using cross reference must exist in the same directory. Any PDL without cross reference will not show up properly under SAC so beware. In other words separate directories mean just that - separate.

That makes sense. Is there a way to configure the view of addresses int he system directory so that Internet users have say Lastname then first and premium users are listed firstname then last?

Just trying to differentiate between internal users and external addresses in a big directory
10k entries with 30 premium users.

Hi,

Once an entry is added to the directory, only SAC is able to tell the difference, other clients will just display what they get. This means that the difference must be engineered BEFORE the entry is added to the directory. For example using all lower case for one type, or using a different naming format like last, first. Note that what the clients tend to use is the Common Name (CN in the directory) so you need to prepare your data as per the convention chosen. Hope that helps.

Regards,
Danny
