Organization wide addressbook import/sync to scalix server?

Postby dwerthmu » Tue Apr 24, 2007 10:36 am

We have a sql database application that contains contact information and other attributes about the people we work with. We would like to keep an updated version of this contact information in the scalix server. Available to outlook and webmail users.

I see that scalix allows multiple internal directories, and I think this would make sense to be its own. I'm new to the scalix tools, so I'm looking for the place to start and build a prototype.

Ideally a export is run from the database every few hours and updated into the scalix directory. or one way sync of some kind would be even better.

The sql database application is used from the web and other things so the data is managed in one place but we want to have a working copy available in the scalix addressbook.

Any Advice?

This has to be a common issue to deal with. We currently do this with our exchange server but are looking for a better solution.

OK since I see several people have viewed this thread but no advice I suspect its of interest but its a problem awaiting a solution.

So Here is the proposed solution:
Export the entries from the mysql database into a properly formated ldif file. Then use this ldif file to create the directory. I will stop the directory delete it and recreate it every time,, and restart it about 4 times an hour. will have less than 10k entries.

Then setup a sync agreement between scalix directory named contacts and the ldap directory.

Note the ldap directory for this will be a openldap server running on its own port. The enterprise directory used for accounts will be a separate one.

See any issues ?
