Hi
Is it good practice to backup the /var/opt/scalix folder using tar keeping the scalix server up and using omoff router? I know it is best to shut it off completely but I have 99GB to backup and it takes 10hrs to do so. Like this I can keep the server up and queue mail at night. Is there a better way? or is export user by user better?

Hi!
If you do not want to shutdown the Scalix server, taking backups for each user is not a bad
idea, make sure the user is signed off before taking backup and importing his/her data.
If you intend to use LVM to make a snapshot of the system for backup purposes, refer to
the document at http://www.scalix.com/documents/Scalix_ ... 11.0.2.pdf which
has a chapter on "Backup and Recovery" at page 88, refer to the heading "Full Backup and
Restore".
