winmail.dat redux

Postby racmar » Thu Mar 22, 2007 3:12 pm

I have a user /w outlook and he is receiving winmail.dat attachments from an outside email server not under our control. We are using scalix server version 11.0.2.17 and an outlook connector version 11.0.2.28. The sender re-sent the email to both a gmail account and our scalix server. This time, the gmail account had the correct attachment, but scalix still receives winmail.dat.

I have searched the forums for winmail.dat, and have seen several possible solutions, but so far nothing has worked. Is there a way I can disable exhange interoperability permanently on our server. I don't think I have *ANY* need to interface /w an exchange server. Would this be possible? Is there any downside to scalix acting like any ordinary pop3 or imap server?

Previously we were using a pop3 server, and have received email from this user /w no problems. I cannot say if they have changed anything on their end, but we have only noticed this today for only this particular user.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome, and thanks.

http://bugzilla.scalix.com/show_bug.cgi?id=13378 is the only open bug I see which mentions winmail.dat, so I think yours is different.

What can you tell me about the sending server? Is it Scalix, Exchange or something else? Also, does this only happen for messages originating from that one sending server?

Kev.

I have no information on the sending server other than the original email message source. If you want, I can forward this to you, but I will not post it here in the forums.

It looks like the sender is using MS exchange
X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft Exchange V6.5
