How to fetch mail from pop3 into users imap boxes

Postby lei » Thu Mar 08, 2007 11:28 am

Actually the topic says it all.

I want Scalix to fetch mails from a web pop3 account into a users imap folder and i want mails sent by users be sent by pop3 account.

I know rtfm is the answer, but i just want a to-do like list how to start, as im not that familiar with scalix and linux in general.

Thank you so much.

a simple sample .fetchmailrc file would look like this...

poll pop.domain.com proto pop3
user 'user1' there with password 'secret' is user1 here

Then just add it to cron so it runs regularly.

It's pretty straight forward to read, methinks. But post back if you have any issues.

thank you so much for help, now as fetchmail is working im trying to convince scalix smtpd
to act as a MTA which relays the mails to the smtp running on my internet domain

i read something about SMART_HOST but cannont find the right sendmail.mc, what i think is kind of a template file needed for generation of sendmail.cf

Every mail i send, returns from my internet smtp with 550 user unknown.

The sender adress is my localdomain, which should be masqeraded to what i guess the domain of the internet smtp

I dont get the point, i stuck, this is weird, im not that familiar to linux :(

thanks for pointing me the right direction, at least i hope so ;)

In /etc/sendmail.cf, search for DS by itself on a line. Add the smarthost immediately after that. So the line would look like this:

DShost.domain.com

Then restart sendmail.

Kev.
