Scalix and BB

Postby kristianward » Thu Feb 22, 2007 1:03 pm

Hey everyone,

Ok this is what I want to do but i know im doing it wrong.

We have clients that do have BB but are happy to not use them with Notify. I know there is a way to have thier mail simply forwarded to the BB.

At first try yeah i setup an alias and it worked - but...

scalix changed the from: to the users name...it did not retain the original sender to the blackberry - so bascially they had a bunch of emails from themselves.

IN my postfix days this was a no brainer but am lost here...

Any ideas?

Thanks

The best way to do this is with the sxaa command.

It can be downloaded from: http://downloads.scalix.com/ark/sxaa

The manual for it is here: http://downloads.scalix.com/ark/sxaa.readme

Basically you would enter: sxaa --user "User Name" --redirect "Blackberry Address" --retain --title "Rule To Forward To BB"

Using redirect keeps the original sender of the email. Using retain a copy of the message will be kept in the original receiver's inbox. Title is just a title so you can tell quickly what each rule does.

After you create the rule, enter sxaa --user "User Name" to see that the rule is in place.

If you made a mistake, you can delete it with: sxaa --user "User Name" --remove "Reference Number"

Hope that helps,
Bob

One word of warning here. For some reason, SXAA rules seem to be disabled/overwritten/screwed up sometimes by Out Of Office rules. So you may have a user work fine, and then set their out of office rule for their vacation, and find that nothing goes to their BB.

Kristian, email to text is available, but some providers will charge to receive a text message from an email address as if it's a new service, text enhanced, I believe. Rogers is a good example.
