Unsolicited email recieved almost instantly for new account

Hi,

I am a little worried after setting up a new domain on our scalix 10 server and setting up a new user 'dave@newdomain.com' we recieve unsolicited emails! This email address had never been used before and after an hour of it being opened it gets all the junk and virus stuff, is this just life or could there be something wrong with our configuration like the relay.

This is probably just life in the modern era. I owned mydomain.com.au for about 3 years before I got it hosted. I logged into webmail about 2 hours after it was activated to setup email accounts. There was no catchall set, yet there was about 25 messages for andrew@mydomain.com.au. They kept coming in at about 10 per hour until I put a block on the address.
