Domain of sender address xxx@xxxxx.com does not exist

Postby wmcdonald » Tue Nov 21, 2006 6:43 pm

I've taken my email address out of the error, however, the domain of sender is on the Scalix box. What's going on ... This is the second time that all email stops going outbound. The MX record is there the DNS records are there. But it can't find itself (just like I was in the 70's). Last night I had to do an omshut and a omrc to jump start it.

What is the output of 'dig company.com' where company.com is the address you are sending from?

It started working again. It lasted for about 15 minutes. This problem happened for the first time last night. The server has been up since the beginning of June.

The current dig command is pointing back to my LAN's DNS.

The Scalix server has 2 NIC cards in it. One going to the LAN the other going to the Internet. The server has the IP's of the DNS of the ISP first then of the LAN second.

Glad to hear it. I wouldn't be suprised if DNS was temporarily down, or if sendmail was having problems resolving the domain.
