Restrict e-mailing for internal use only

I am installing Scalix Community Edition 10.0.1 in a school district which will be used for student internal (Intra-Mail) use only. Nothing is to leave that server. I was think of using rules but I am not sure. Has anyone done anything like this before?

I wonder if you could just keep sendmail shutdown and be done with it...

Maybe just create accounts but not make them internet accounts.

Well, what about a rule on the firewall forbidding outgoing port 25 connections from that server? That'll last you through version upgrades, init 6's and everything ...

Actually, that's kind of a neat idea, cause you could even make the accounts like student@school if you don't need a TLD.

And how about restricting some users to internal mail only? I would like to create a group, add the users to the group and apply that restriction. How can it be done?

The proper way to do this is to utilize what is known as a ruleset file in the /var/opt/scalix/rules directory, and the recipient service level that can be established on each user. Look in the knowledgebase under the How-To's for an "Internet Mail Restrictions"
