Coexistence Migration

Postby zoom » Thu Sep 28, 2006 11:58 am

I was able to get Scalix installed successfully and have it auth against my ldap directory located on my SLES 10 server. I would now like to have it coexist with my existing postfix server running on SLES. I should mention that the Scalix server is setup on a different box and includes all the required software.

1. I understand that I need to have a new DNS entry for my Scalix server, but I'm not sure if I require another MX record for the domain, do I?

2. How are aliases handled in Scalix? From what I've read it seems that I need to use sendmail on the Scalix server to handle this.

3. Do I require any special setup for sendmail on the Scalix server?

4. By default RHEL locks down sendmail by restricting it to accept mail for local only. I'm guessing I need to open it up to the net???

1. If the postfix server is the mx record for your domain then it just needs to know to forward messages to scalix.

2. You can add aliases via the sac or the ommodu command.

3 and 4. Scalix listens on port 25 for incoming messages. Scalix hands off outgoing messages to sendmail.

Don
