queue manger w/ high CPU & internet mail gateway problem

i've been at this for a day now and need to get my email back up.

i'm not sure how this started but yesterday i notice there was 380,000+ emails in my internet mail gateway queue. so i ran

omstat -q "internet mail gateway" > /tmp/msg.list

once i had this i tried removing a single message from the queue w/

omstat -q "internet mail gateway" -m message_id -j -R

this just seemed to hang. at this point i notice the queue.manager has 99% of my cpu (1.8Ghz P4). so i forced killed queue.manager. i'm now thinking this was probably a bad thing to do. now every time i try starting up scalix the queue.manager spikes the CPU and none of the om* tools seem to work.

at this point i'll like to just blow away al the queue. it's probably 99% spam anyways. how do i do this.

Keep your internet mail gateway stopped. You will have to be patient until the queue manager has processed the queue. This may take awhile. Once the queue manager is no longer consuming your cpu you can delete all messages on a queue with omqdump. The password for omqdump is Atoday's_day_plus_10E. For the 26th it will be A36E. Use the "D" option.

after about 36 hours and it only getting through about 40k (of 685k) and reading about various bugs in 10.0.x i upgraded to 10.0.1. the upgrade emptied my queue

everything seems better now. i even spent the time and installed spam assassin.
