Scalix Backup Test

I have just tried to backup my current scalix and move it to a new box - what I wanted to do was to backup all the users folders and restore them on a new machine that contained a fresh fedora 4 install with a fresh scalix install I then copied the following folders shown below I then copied them over to the new box:

I can logon to the scalix administration page it recognises my password and I can see all the users so it has picked them up but when I click on any of the users I get the error "Could not retrieve the information for the selected user" - and when I try to login to webmail as one of the users i get an error saying that the username and password are incorrect - any help would be greatly appreciated as I would like to roll this out - but I first need to be confident backing it up and restoring.

Files that I have copied from the orignal box and then restored to new box

/opt/scalix/
/opt/scalix-tomcat/
/var/opt/scalix/
/etc/opt/scalix/

How is authenitcation being done on current Scalix box?

You just need to copy /var/opt/scalix, but you need to do it before you install Scalix on the new machine. Also, of the hostnames are different you need to use sxmodfqdn to modify this.

It is possible you didn't preserve permissions. To correct this do

omcheck -i -s > /tmp/omcheck ; sh /tmp/omcheck
omcheck -d -s > /tmp/omcheck ; sh /tmp/omcheck

after you installed Scalix.

Thats great - i thought it was going to be more complicated - Yes the host names are identical

so just to confirm so i copy /var/opt/scalix folder and its contents over to the new box then i install scalix as normal no special configuration except for the following to preserve permissions

omcheck -d -s > /tmp/omcheck ; sh /tmp/omcheck
======================================

i'll give this ago and let you know how i get on - Thanks for your help and also for your quick response-

I have copied /var/opt/scalix folder and its contents over to the new box and then i have tried to install Scalix the installation starts off o.k it installs the Scalix software but when i click the forward button to go to the last stage a popup box pops up which is completly blank except for the at the top of the box it says "information" and it hangs at this point - has anyone seen this before?

did you license the backup server? or is that part of the /var/opt/scalix files? I'm trying to setup the same thing for test/fail-over purpose.

I just finished testing a complete restore of our mail server. It works GREAT!. I guess I found out that the license info is in the /var/opt/scalix directory, there was no need to enter a license file.
