Migrating Scalix Message Store to a new machine - Problems!

Migrating Scalix Message Store to a new machine - Problems!

Hello :)

We got a shiny new and faster server recently and wanted to migrate our existing Scalix 10.1 (SuSE based) to our freshly installed (RedHat based) new Scalix server.

It seems that everything went smooth - all the users show up with "omshou -m all", SWA and the MAPI Connector (at least from Evolution) works.

The only thing that doesn't work is SAC.

Initially, after the migration, SAC would load but didn't display any user. Each time I clicked "refresh", the "reloading list" statement flashed momentarily, but never returned a userlist.

After I reinstalled and reconfigured SAC, it hangs now forever at the login prompt but never logs me in.

For testing purposes, I tried to login with other credentials, and SAC replies swiftly that I can't be logged on - but as soon as I attempt to log in with my right credentials it just hangs, and hangs, and hangs; but it never displays an error message.

Can you please help me?

Greets,
Rainer

Summary of what I have done migrating the message store thus far:

-- Fresh install of RHEL 4.2
-- rsync'ed the old /var/opt/scalix dir to the new machine
-- for good measure I ran the following commands: omcheck -s -d > file (then executed "file"); ompatchom and omtidyallu -M
-- umshowu -m all displays all users correctly
-- SWA works great
-- Mapi connector for Evolution works.

Are there errors reported in caa.log or scalix-res.log?

Cheers,
Yuri

Have you changed your hostname during the migration?

If so, please check the sxmodfqdn manpage.

Florian.

Thanks Florian, I ran that command - no errors.

But there's another issue: The public Calendar seems to have vanished!

When I try to get to the calendar, it doesn't display anything, When I try to create an event, it says this

"Cannot create a new event

The calendar you have selected is read-only"

^^ that's from Evolution. Haven't gotten feedback yet from the Windows users.

... Help! :)

Oh.. here's another one: The public contacts:

"Unable to perform search.

This query did not complete successfully."

^^ This is also not working! Argh. I am sure that Management is going to be really mad about my migration attempt now! :)

Rainer,

I believe if this is tight in timing, you should open an official case on this with Scalix support - that will give you full investigation and reliable response times.

Cheers,
Florian..

I have a ticket open since last Friday!

Additionally, I enjoy the feedback here, too, as I value the experienced Scalix community, too! :)

Well, I pretty much have resolved the aforementioned issues: Mapi works from both Lin and Win, Calendars work, SWA works.

The only thing that still doesn't work is SAC... it still hangs upon trying to log in with the right credentials....

Other than that, the migration process was successful!

Of course, without the availability of SAC, it's by far not as much fun to meddle with the users, though... :)

Hope to have this issue solved, soon!

PS: I do remember a similar issue that resolved itself as soon as we updated from Scalix 10.0 to 10.1. After that update SAC worked right away!

Ok.. it's fixed. Regards to Yuri!

It seems as if "sxmodfqdn" does not touch "/opt/scalix/global/config", and remnants of the old hostname remain.

After I changed the hostname entries there, I can easily log-in to the SAC again!

Thanks again for all your help!

Greets,
Rainer
