Scalix on private IP

Postby Enlund » Tue Jun 13, 2006 8:33 am

I'm in progress to install a Scalix server in our lan.
Are there any special tweaks that must be done to get Scalix running on a private IP execpt for portforwarding and MX record i DNS?

Other issues?

You will need port 25 (SMTP) open in both directions. In addition, you need to consider the webclient. You will probably want to open port 443 (inbound) and turn on SSL on the Scalix Server.

How about DNS-record when the public MX record is pointing to the external ip of our firewall but the scalix server is running at 192.168.x.x?
Are there any issues when the scalix server is doing a name lookup and the IP:s of the MX doesn't match?

MX for our domain (firewall external) 62.80.x.x domain.com
Scalix server 192.168.z.z

The mx record need to be pointed to your external ip... www.whatismyip.com

Your ip address should be static if not when your ip chenges you will loose mail.

You may have trouble sending email to some places, you have to have a reverse dns record added by your isp.
