Setting up an HA Cluster

I am in the process of gathering the needed hardware to setup a 2 server HA cluster using SLES 10. I pulled the documentation TB/TB-2007-02-HACLUSTER from the Scalix Wiki and using it as my guide.

I have a stand alone server running my Scalix mailstore right now. How do I get the information from that mailstore onto the cluster external hardware storage unit?

Really can't afford to loses any of the existing mailstore.

Also, do you know of anyone who has already done this that I can converse with?

Hi

For your standalone server you will not have set up for use with instances. setting up an instance is the best way of useing Scalix in a cluster.

Although it would be possible to modify a lot of settings to configure an instance my preference would be to install Scalix on the cluster using an instance as per the instructions you have. Then use sxmboxexp / sxmboximp via a scrip[t to export / import the mail boxs

This may be less stressfull than trying to forklift /var/opt/scalix/ to modifying the appropriate file unless your user count is above 500 or so.

PS the users can use the new cluster while mail boxs are being changed over. sxmboxexp preserves Outlook / SWA rules - views etc. Its really good

thanks for the reply. I think this is what I will do. After getting the cluster setup and running, use the sxmboxexp / sxmboximp proceedure. That way my users can go ahead and start using the new mail server while I get their old emails transeferred over.

Can I do this with the public folder and public calendars as well?

Yes, thankfull so. As of Ver 11.x the sxmboxexp command can backup the public folders as well. try man sxmboxexp.
