Problems with tomcat and SuSE9.1

I have just installed Scalix9.1 on SuSE9.1 and all went smoothly.
However I can not get any example page, that I installed along with tomcat.
I just get completely empty pages (http://172.18.0.222:8080/servlet-examples)
lsof -i tcp:8080

In /etc/tomcat/base/workers.properties I see
workers.tomcat_home=/var/tomcat3
I don't have a /var/tomcat3, does that cause the problem?
Similar is /etc/tomcat/demoserver/workers.properties.

What have I done wrong? I think it's unclever to
"confgutator --install --swa" before I know for sure, that tomcat is working, right? BTW: What is menat with "directory where tomcat is installed", is that "/usr/share/tomcat/", where the binaries are?

I couldn't wait any longer and tried to install "Scalix Web Access". All values were set with correct default values and it worked. No reason to worry, everything seems to be easy so far.
