Multiple mailnodes, wrong reply address

Postby KevinDSomers » Thu Dec 08, 2005 12:28 pm

I have set up a single server with multiple mailnodes:
webmail,domain1
webmail,domain2
webmail,domain3
etc...

The users in domain1.com send and receive mail correctly, but the users in domain2.com and domain3.com have domain1.com appended as their reply address rather than their real domain. In SAC under Users > General, the email address section lists them correctly, as does Users > Advanced, Authentication ID, but when I send a mail from this server to my hotmail (or any other address) the mail appears as user@domain1.com.

Could this have anything to do with the first portion of the mailnode being webmail for multiple mailnodes?

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi,

you will probably need to look into these commands:

omresetmn - reset the mailnode mapping file
omaddmnmp - add entry to the mailnode mapping file
ommodmnmp - replace entry in the mailnode mapping file
omdelmnmp - delete entry in the mailnode mapping file
omshowmnmp - list entries in the mailnode mapping file

To associate a mailnode with a domain, use omaddmnmp.

e.g. omaddmnmp mailnode,scalix host.domain.com

Cheers,

Sascha.

I added the mappings and restarted Scalix services, but the same result.

This seems to be related to sendmail.mc (outside your required help, but I would appreciate anything you can offer)

In sendmail.mc are entries MASQUERADE_DOMAIN and MASQUERADE_AS for each of the domains. Which ever one is last is the address appended to outgoing mail. I put dnl in front of each of the entries, and now the it appears to be working.

I was under the impression that the MASQUERADE_DOMAIN and MASQUERADE_AS entries in sendmail.mc were required so a server named server.internalname.com could send mail as mail.realdomain1.com and mail.realdomain2.com?

No entries in hosts, etc/mail/allow, etc/mail/local-host-names, sendmail.mc, or any other files had been changed when this stopped working after three months with this config.

Are those entries in sendmail.mc suppose to be there of not?

I am having the same problem

Postby viper77 » Tue Dec 27, 2005 6:00 pm

I need to add multiple domains into a single server, when I do this I can log in using multiple domains, but when I send an email to a yahoo account the person receives the email as if it came from my primary domain, eventhough I logged in with one of the secondary domains.
I need to be able to send emails from different domains and when I log in as my secondary domain I want that address to appear in my sent from field.
now I log in as user@domain1.com and receive the email from user@domain1.com which is good, but when I log in as user@domail2.com I also receive the email as comming from user@domain1.com

Thanks for any help

Hi viper77,

In the SAC when you select a user you see their Email Addresses. Am I correct that this is where you are defining user@domain1 and user@domain2? The first address will be the user's default reply-to address.

Logging on as user@domain2 does not change this. You can log on as user@domain2 but this does not change the order of the Email Addresses.

If you are preparing the message with SWA you can select Tools>Options>From/Reply-To to change the reply-to address.

Don

When I log in to the SWA and I go into the tools menu, I don't have an Options submenu

Oops. Sorry I was working with our upcoming release. It will allow you to set your reply-to address.

With 9.x you will see your reply-to address in File/Preferences. The fields, however are grayed out so they can't be modified.

If you were to use an IMAP client you would be able to set your reply-to address as you wish.

Don

So it can't be done??

I think if we can't do this I don't think the server is any good to us, as we need to send and receive emails for multiple domains and accounts.
Do you know when the new release or fix is schedule for?

Thanks for the help.

I forgot to mention, we need to do this from the webclient.

We expect to make Release 10 generally available mid to late Q1 06.

Best wishes,
Don
