SENDMAIL CFG

Hi everyone,

I am a newb to linux and i have been playing with the community edition of scalix for the last two days. Basically i am IT admin at a school and i would like to offer email for students. We already have an exchange server for staff. So i would like the students to be able to email their teachers and back again. However, i dont want (at this stage) the students to be able to email out.

We are on the internal domain ashford.csco.org.uk and we have an external domain of ashfordschool.co.uk i would like the students to be our internal domain name of ashford.csco.org.uk.

Im using SUSE pro for the scalix box and have set it up so that students can email each other. However, it fails everytime sending to the exchange box.

I have a number of questions that i hope someone can help we with (im close to giving up!!!)

How would i set up internal dns to reflect the domain?
do i have to configure sendmail prior to installation of scalix?
when i send a message to the staff from a student i get 553 error the domain does not exist help?

Thanks

Hi,

I would like to keep this in manageble chunks, so lets do the basic things first. Have you configured your own DNS and / or your own zones ?

Where is the Domain Name server, on Windows or on Linux?

Let's go from there.

Cheers,

Sascha.
