Global Address Book.

Postby synet2k » Wed Aug 01, 2007 10:24 am

Hi,

I've installed scalix for few weeks now but I'm still trying to figure out how to create a global address book? The meaning of "Global Address Book" is that I need to create an address book where everyone can share it. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Regards,

Jay

Jay,

you should have, as a default, a directory shared by all users.

what does "omlistdirs" show?

You should see at least:

** SYSTEM Shared LOCAL DB config update read modifyself

The "**" shows that thsi directory is the default "system" directory (the Global Address Book)

If you add a new user to the system, an entry will be created for them in this directory:

"omsearch -e s=*" will show all entries (full syntax is "omsearch -d system -t s -e s=*)...see man pages for what those switched mean :-)

Is it possible to create another global address book? This address book does not consist internal users, it consist email of external user which we will use frequently.

Hi,

Even external users can be added to this SYSTEM directory (in SAC they are known as Internet Users). Setting up a second directory is more involved and access to it depends very much on which clients you use.

I agree with Danny.
I have worked on systems with multiple directories and its a real admin headache.
