troubleshoot error queue

Postby FNB » Mon Apr 30, 2007 4:32 pm

I have 3 messages in my error queue, but I don't know why. I've run:

omresub -q error

followed by:

omshowlog -p 5

but I don't get any more info on them. Is there anyway to find out why these messages can't be sent?

Hi!

Can you check the /var/log/maillog to find the reason for mail moving in error queue, also
try the command "omshowlog -l 3" that should indicate all ERRORS and SERIOUS ERRORS.

Thanks,

I couldn't find anything of interest in /var/log/maillog

omshowlog showed a couple of these errors, but I'm not sure what they mean.

ERROR Browser (Service 14 ) 05.01.07 09:21:22
[OM 0]
Last Msg Id: BAY0-MC3-F1RtJY8RGz0020d852(a)bay0-mc3-f1.bay0.hotmail.com
Last Msg DirectRef: 000558c152f52391

ERROR Browser (Service 14 ) 05.01.07 10:50:14
[OM 3010] File to be converted does not exist
Last Msg Id: H0000074000b7cbf.1170095889.myserver.com
Last Msg DirectRef: 000489180bbb2ea4

I'm accustomed to working in an Exim environment where I can simply grep for the message ID of a failed message in the error logs. Is there anyway to do something similar in Scalix?

Hi!

For each message in Error queue, the reason behind it should be shown by omshowlog. To
search the Message IDs, you need to look into the audit log at ~/logs/audit. The log level
could be manipulated using the command omconfaud, check its man pages for details.
Please tell us the Scalix version you are using?

Thanks,
Subir

It may be worth just having a quick look at the messages with omqdump. Look at the message at it may show you if the mail could not be delivered to a valid recipient (NON_DEL_NAME, MATCH_NAME etc).
If that does not show anything, resubmit the messages, and then use omshowlog and dump the output to a file (far easier to look at)....omshowlog -p 5 -l 9 > /tmp/myfile

You should see reports in teh omshowlog of the message getting placed on the error queue....the record will start with something like:

REPORT Service Router(Service Router) 05.04.07 08:21:42
[OM 7855] Message placed on ERROR queue.

that may give more clue to why its getting placed on the error queue.

It may be an address in your address book with no valid local user, or no route defined....

Could you give me some more detail on what service I need to change the log levels for? I grepped for the message ID and nothing showed up.

I assume the mesage ID is the number on the left in the frequent maintenance report that gets emailed to me?

didn't see anything interesting there.

all i get is:

Code: Select all

REPORT                         Administration(Resubmit      ) 05.09.07 15:18:00
[OM 4004] Resubmitted 1 messages

REPORT                         Administration(Resubmit      ) 05.09.07 15:18:11
[OM 4004] Resubmitted 2 messages

OK, have a look at your event log levels (omshowlvl), make sure your Service router is set to 9 (omconflvl rtr 9)
resubmit the error queue and recheck trhe event log (omshowlog -p 5 -l9 -s router)

when you read the message in the error queue using omqdump, what do you see? Is there any non-delivery reason...maybe you could post the output here?

I changed the log levels. Here is what I got: http://pastebin.ca/487628

I see the errors, but I'm still not quite sure what is causing them.

Hi!

It seems you tried configuring an anti-virus software, check the following post, this should
help:
viewtopic.php?t=6673

Which anti-virus software have you tried to integrate with Scalix Server?

Thanks,

clamav-db-0.88.3-1.el4.rf
clamav-0.88.3-1.el4.rf
clamd-0.88.3-1.el4.rf

Never had a problem other than these three messages. I tried these changes viewtopic.php?p=29714#29714 but the first line

Code: Select all

AllowSupplementaryGroups yes

is invalid. The IP address was set to the loopback. I changed it to the servers IP address.

Since no messages have hit the error queue since I started this thread, I'm not going to worry aboout it.[/url]
