Scalix and FreeBSD

Postby MaartenD » Thu Mar 01, 2007 4:59 am

Hi ,

i'm currently working for a company as an inernship. They are running FreeBSD 6.2 and they would like to have a system like Scalix. My question is if the linux emulation that FreeBSD provides will be enough to get Scalix running?
I hope it does since that would make my life a little bit easyer.

Please let me know asap.

Greetz ,

Hi Maarten

Even if it did, and I don't know the answer, you would be putting yourself in an unsupported situation. That's fine for home users, but I'd be very cautious about going that route with a business. In fact, I'd recommend strongly against it.

Your best bet is to run Linux. RHEL or SLES and go from there. If cost is the reason, use CentOS, and follow the instructions elsewhere on the forum to get it working.

And in anticipation of the question, there have been a few requests for BSD support over the years, but not many compared to *buntu. The answer has always been that this will depend on market demand. So far, I haven't seen much demand for it. Sorry.

Thanks
Kev.
