The message is nothing to worry about - see

http://bugzilla.scalix.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14533

Just make sure ldapmapper is running after you put on the server rpm. otherwise, start it manually.

I have the same message appearing on my debian box. The bug you refer to is in the postinst script - the above message is from the pre -installation script. The installation is never run, but kills itself with the above mentioned error.

Is there a fix for this? Or a workaround?

The trivial workaround is to start /etc/init.d/ldapmapper manually after running ommakeom.

The minor bug will be fixed in one of the next releases.

I'm having the same problem: I cannot install scalix-server_11.0.2.17_i386.deb because I get that ldapmapper error. I tried to manually start ldapmapper before but without sucess.

what do you mean - can't install? by the time this error hits, it is already installed, it's at the very end of the postinstall script where this is failing.

Alternative Mind

I am having the same exact problem...

Postby Alternative Mind » Fri Jun 08, 2007 8:26 pm

I can't install scalix because of this same exact issue. I have tried starting the service, but nothing.

I downloaded the latest version from the download site: Release 11.1.0

Is this something that can be simply fixed through an installation script? If so, could you please share the fix, I don't mind unpacking and repacking the *.deb file.

Thanks,

Alternative Mind

Here's a detailed log

Not quite the same error

Postby Splinter » Mon Jun 11, 2007 6:49 am

Hi there.

I have a similar error that I get when installing on Ubuntu 6.06 LTS. I've tested the other scalix-*.deb files and they install with no errors returning. However when I run dpkg -i scalix-server*.deb, it returns an error:

Code: Select all

dpkg -i scalix-server_11.0.4.10790_i386.deb
Selecting previously deselected package scalix-server.
(Reading database ... 40486 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking scalix-server (from scalix-server_11.0.4.10790_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing scalix-server_11.0.4.10790_i386.deb (--install):
subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 10
Errors were encountered while processing:
 scalix-server_11.0.4.10790_i386.deb

There are no errors returned about the LDAP mapper and there are no scalix directories in /var/opt/ or /opt/.

Thanks.

I found that allthough the installer exits with an error, the necessary scalix files are installed to /opt/scalix/. This aloud me to run the:

Code: Select all

sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.7

and then I could start the message store

Code: Select all

sudo ommakeom

After which you should restart the LDAP mapper youself before continueing installation of the other deb files

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/init.d/ldapmapper restart

starting with the tomcat connector, then tomcat and continue from there.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Is there a reslution to this issue

Postby psifry » Thu Aug 30, 2007 2:49 pm

Did anyone get to the solution here? I tried the fix posted above but I get no success only 'sudo: ommakeom: command not found', I suppose because the installation is incomplete.

Any advice?

sifly.

noooob

Postby psifry » Thu Aug 30, 2007 4:43 pm

Doh, calling all you nooobs out there.... is this a regular noooob occurance or what? Note the time of my previous post... I spent 4 days banging my head against the screen cos I couldn't figure out the problem above, then I finally work up the courage to post my problem to the forum (cos I hate being a noooob) and then 15 minutes later I find the answer that has been evading me.... doh.

So to all you fellow noooobs out there who hit this problem on ubuntu, the solution is that you can't run the ommakeom command with sudo you have to go up to root which you do by typing :

sudo su

then ommakeom works

happy days
