Scalix in Active Directory child domain

Postby desmo » Thu Nov 09, 2006 1:35 pm

Hi all,
I am testing Scalix SBE on CentOS4 and so far so good (using vmware). We have a primary domain, AD windows2000, Exchange 2000 at the primary office, and I am going to setup a child domain in another office where I am going to run the Scalix server. I am at the stage when you need to run forestprep and I noticed that it only works if I run it from the Parent domain with an administrative account. Even if I log onto the PDC of the child domain with the administrative account of the primary domain (enterprise admin) the forestprep fails. Once this is done synchronization with the AD works fine and new users are imported correctly. I believe it doesn't really make any difference in the end because what you want to do is modify the schema and it doesn't really matter where you run the forestprep from, but I would like to know if there's a way to run forestprep from the child domain.

Thanks

I was told, back in version that Scalix did not support child domain authentication.

user@domain.com works.
user@child.domain.com does not.

I asked a few times if this was improved.
Never heard back.

It works but not the address list

I can confirm it works. Parent domain being Win2003 and Exch2003, child domain being win2000 and scalix. We use different domains for the emails, ie the users in the parent domain are user.parent@parent.com, while in the child domain user.child@child.com. I have single sign on working, webmail and sac working as well. What I cannot see now is a common global list for the addresses, but I might be missing something.
Any suggestion/comment greatly appreciated.
