howto disable 'change password' from web access

Postby heupink » Mon Jun 06, 2005 4:47 am

dear forum,

Is there a way to disable the 'change password' option from the web access? (it only changes the scalix password, and I'm using a remote ldap server for authentication..)

(or does anyone know of a way to make scalix change the remote ldap password..?)

Yours,
Mourik Jan

There is currently no way to "disable" the Change Password option of SWA.

It would nice is this was an included option in the partner.xml configuration file (like the ability to turn on/off the Scalix Rules Wixard), but right now this option isn't there.

As an aside, it *is* possible to turn off the Change Password option in the Scalix Rules Wizard itself, but that isn't much help to you here.

FWIW...this is done via editing the file:

rules-lffunc.html

in

/var/opt/scalix/omhtml/RW-<LANG>/page

where <LANG> is the language of the user, and changing the line:

var fEnableChangePassword = true

to read "= false".

Your second request (to enable changing of passwords in an external source) is something we are considering for a future release, but I can't give you exact dates for availabilty of this.

Kind Regards,
JG

Is this an enhancement request? Can it be rated higher?

I also have a customer after this capability and with more and more sites using LDAP authentication and passwords perhaps now this is a more valid request. Can it be weighted or rated higher because of this reason, in the list of enhancements?

Cheers,
JD

in scalix 11, there is a file: /var/opt/scalix/xx/tomcat/webapps/webmail/WEB-INF/swa.properties

that has a line:
swa.system.hasChangePassword=true

This looks as if it is what we were looking for.

Interestingly there are two swa.properties?

Postby deyjvu » Fri Jan 05, 2007 1:37 am

The path mentioned above is one swa.properties file but there is another one at /var/opt/scalix/??/webmail as well as
/var/opt/scalix/??/tomcat/webapps/webmail/WEB-INF/swa.properties
where ?? is the initials of your server name.

On my server it looks like we are using /var/opt/scalix/??/webmail version of the swa.properties file and not the one you suggested.

I wonder if anyone from Scalix could comment on the fact there are two of these files and if in fact setting this to FALSE would stop the users from being able to change the Scalix password or as the customers want, remove the button enabling them to change it.

hi.

Let's hope to get some feedback on this from scalix support...

Anyway, where are we officially supposed to find information such as this? Is this documented somewhere? Can't find it in the official documents at http://www.scalix.com/downloads/documentation.html

(that all look like they are DRAFT versions..? (judging by their filenames)

regards!

Just for continuity - changing these files in V11 doesn't wo

I tested changing these two files to swa.system.hasChangePassword=false
but didn't make any difference to the SWA, you could still change password under TOols/Options.

it works here, after restarting scalix-tomcat (!) changing the password is no longer there.

You didn't forget to restart scalix-tomcat, did you..?
