As part of our server backup procedure we are using the ombackup(omcpoutu) script to create tgz of each users mailbox. This is so we can do single-user mailbox restores to recover old mail.
The script basically grabs a list of users for the current mailnode then loops through them all using omcpoutu to extract the mailbox contents. This works fine most of the time but on occasion, usually once or twice in a week, one of the extracted tgz files has a size of only 20 bytes! Once all the mailboxes (there are only 20 of them) were 20 bytes!
If the backup is run again then the extracted mailboxes are usually the correct size.
The backups occur at approx 2am so no users are in the office and there are no other processes scheduled to run at that time.
Any ideas or suggestions?
