Sender flag, message IDs and delegates

Postby leigh » Fri Jul 21, 2006 2:04 am

OK, here's a tricky one:

We have several 'anonymous' mailboxes set up. Namely, support@ourdomain, orders@ourdomain, etc.
Each of our real users who need to use this mailbox are given delegate access to the mailbox. The sender flag is set to "N" on the principal mailboxes.

When a delegate sends on behalf of the principal, the email is received at the destination, marked as being from the principal. So far so good.
However, when the recipient replies, we get some odd behaviour, which depends on what mail client is used to reply to the message.

If Outlook express is used to reply to the message, and the reply has the original message included, it shows up as being from the principal.
However, if another mail client is used (and I can't be certain which), the original message is marked as being from "<Delegate> on behalf of <Principal>".
This causes a problem if we then want to reply to that same message, it gives away our anonymity.
As far as I can tell, the biggest difference is that the OE header does not have an "in-reply-to" header, whereas the offending mail client does. I am assuming that scalix looks up the message ID to determine who originally sent the first email. Could this be correct?
Have I missed a flag somewhere that prevents this behaviour?
