IMAP flags wrong

Postby leigh » Tue Jul 18, 2006 6:57 pm

We are having a problem with an IMAP user.
We have only one user who uses IMAP from his PDA.
Occasionally, there is a problen where mail which has been deleted from scalix (using the Outlook connector) appears on the PDA when it IMAPs into the server. There are also messages appear on the PDA as 'unread', which have in fact been read. At the same time, attempting to log into squirrelmail on the server (which also uses IMAP), gets the following error:

Code: Select all

ERROR : Could not complete request.
Query: FETCH 1:* (FLAGS UID RFC822.SIZE BODY.PEEK[HEADER.FIELDS (Date To Cc From Subject X-Priority Content-Type)])
Reason Given: some of the requested messages no longer exist

Restarting both IMAP and rci appear to fix the problem, but only temporarily.
Any ideas?

This is a known issue and we do strongly advise people not to use two different clients against the same mailbox simultenously. The error you describe happens in exactly this constellation. The fix is simply to use either OL or an IMAP client. The same is true for SWA and other IMAP clients or OL.

Thanks,

Sascha.

So, is this being addressed?
The tendency is to have the PDA running constantly at the same time as outlook. With an increase in PDA use likely in the near future, this could cause me a few problems.

I also have an automated IMAP script I use to feed spam into spamassassin's auto-learn, which uses an IMAP connection to retreive spam from people's junk mail folders. I don't really want to force everyone to log off while it runs.
