outbound mail help needed

Hi,

i'm asking you to point me in the right direction.
My Scalix server receives mails and can send it to several external domains (except aol/gmx/...), so i think it's working :)
additionally it receives mails from several foreign mailboxes via fetchmail and sorts them into the corresponding folders within the user profiles.

Now i have a question regarding these foreign mails
Is it possible to answer to a "foreign" mail with its original receipient (From: part of the header) via Scalix? I think of relaying all these mails back to their foreign smtp but i couldn't figure out how to do that with sendmail. Is that possible? If not, how to do that?
Besides i need a hint for mailertable: is it possible to add an auth for contacting the relay server? i searched for a clue in both o'reilly sendmail books, but i couldn't find anything.

Hi,

if I understand you correcty, you receive mail for user@domain.com and want to sent messages with that From: address, you need to use an IMAP client to set the return address. Alternatively, you can use the Outlook client and change the From: address there (which will look slightly different, but that is a different story).

Yes, you can authenticate with sendmail, please search the forum for more information.
