UAL filesystem error: permission denied

Hi,

we have an power failure. some outlook clients can now not connect to the scalix server.

they get the following error message

UAL filesystem error: permission denied

Any suggestions?

We'll need some addtional details to accruately diagnose the problem:

1) scalixmail.log file on the client machine.
Search for the file "scalixmail.log"

Depending on the version of Scalix Connect this file will be located in either the root, c:\, (Scalix Connect version 9.1) or in the users temp directory (Version 9.2).

The first thing to check is the Scalix server event logs.

/var/opt/scalix/logs/fatal will show any major errors.

If this is a file-system permissions problem, run the command:

Code: Select all

omcheck -d -s > /tmp/omcheck.sh


This will create a script containing all the necessary commands to set the Scalix filesystem permissions correctly.

You can run this script and then attempt to sign in again.

We have the problem resolved.
1 - Login as MS Administrator
2 - Start OL with Scalix Profile
3- Success. Administrator has the profile from user xy with permission problems
4- Login as User - No permission problems anymore

I just experienced a similar problem with a single user. We are migrating from Exchange 2000 to Scalix small business 11.1.

The user could start outlook and read messages for a few hours and then the message text would go blank saying access was denied. I would receive the UAL file system error if I tried to change any of the account settings.

It turned out that the user was at their maximum disk quota (we use Windows Terminal Server 2003). So when the user logged off and then logged in again enough disk space was freed for outlook/scalix to work. Once the temp files used up the remaining disk space, outlook/scalix would not allow messages to be viewed.

FIX:
I increased the user's quota and problem went away.
